Highlights of Hungary 2020 | Franciska Törőcsik

Highlights of Hungary 2020 started at the end of September – the team is already working in full swing so that they can indeed present the fifty-five most prominent Hungarian creative achievements of the year to the audience. From now on, each week we’ll introduce a Highlights ambassador here, on HYPEANDHYPER. This time it’s Bujtor István award-winning actress Franciska Törőcsik’s turn, who was invited to be an ambassador for the second time.

According to the actress, who has been both a Highlights nominee and an ambassador before, Highlights is neither a competition nor an individualist game – it is our common goal for the ambassadors to highlight prominent achievements, which many times overrides personal preferences. Even though Franciska is an enthusiastic supporter of environmental initiatives and naturally arts are also close to her heart, she would like to look beyond her field once again and strives to nominate projects from the broadest possible spectrum.

“As an actress, one must be well-informed, but somehow I was still curled up in a shell before. Owing to our previous nomination, I could participate on a previous award ceremony in relation to the play titled Utas és holdvilág, and I remember how cathartic it was to see the introductory videos of the fifty-five nominees. »Look at that! I am surrounded by a plethora of wonderful people, and I didn’t even know about it.« – I thought. I would like to make those coming to the award ceremony for the first time this year feel the very same thing with my nominations” – replied Franciska when asked about the things Highlights has given her as a nominee and later as an ambassador.

This year’s slogan of Highlights of Hungary is „Hass, alkoss, gyarapíts!”, (a line from Ferenc Kölcsey’s poem Huszt, unofficial translation: “Affect, create, enrich!”) in relation to which Franciska highlighted: effect is always preceded by creation, and she can only wish that every creative person experience the feeling of having an effect. This feeling is what can urge us to desire more, that is, to enrich.

In 2020, the Highlights team also invites the audience to participate in selecting the nominees. “What are the most excellent Hungarian achievements in 2020 in your opinion?” – they ask. You can help them find the most remarkable Hungarian projects on Facebook and via Instagram stories with the hashtag #hassalkossgyarapits and by tagging @highlights_of_hungary.

Hundreds of games in a single device

This is not some catchy line, but a fact. GEMJI, which managed to collect the necessary backing on Kickstarter in only 20 hours, is much more than a simple multifunctional game. Written by: Márk Szolomayer The best way to describe the GEMJI is by calling it a game system. We
