Hungarian lands in Monocle magazine

In our series titled Indulj el! presented over the past few weeks, we raised the attention to the lands and specialities of Hungary. We were not the only ones who noted the impressive spots less frequented by tourists: British travel and lifestyle magazine Monocle also lists Hungarian sights in its latest issue, for which Róbert Farkas created a unique and expressive map.

Róbert Farkas draws illustrations and graphics under the name Astronaut, and the creation of maps also forms a central part of his work. Monocle magazine discovered the graphic artist in October 2019, when they needed a characteristic yet informative map for their Budapest guide.

In the latest, 136th issue of the magazine, Róbert’s map takes us outside of the capital, and in addition to the magazine’s list of worthy spots, the recommendations of the creator are also featured on the map. Thus the map features sights including one of Róbert’s personal favorites, the city of Baja; Sopron, one of the most beautiful cities in Hungary and at the same time the second richest in monuments; Szarvas, where visitors can observe the largest and most significant living tree collection in Hungary in the Szarvas Arboretum; but it also features the viewpoint in Balatonboglár, which the graphic artist always visits himself whenever they are around with his family.
