Intersection of sport and culture: new public park in the Czech capital

A new public park combining sport and culture has been built in the brownfield district of Řeporyje in Prague. The park, tailored to the needs of local residents, features a skateboard and pump track. Designed by the Czech U/U studio, the park offers something for all ages. Let’s see!

In addition to a skateboard and pump track, the public park, opened in 2022, also includes recreational elements such as picnic areas with barbecue grills and tables, table tennis boards, and an outdoor stage for events. The character of the park is enhanced by public spaces such as the works of Czech sculptors Čestmir Suška and Lukáš Rais. In addition, the design focused on the lighting system, the provision of various charging points and public toilets, and the installation of a cafeteria.

The park area is not enclosed by a fence, making it freely accessible to different social classes. Street lighting is on all day, so the skate park can be used until late at night. The park is located next to the established BUBEC arts center and is therefore set to become a new cultural hub for the district.
