Japanese aesthetics inspired the design of the Tamago Kissaten café and pastry shop in Kaliningrad.
The design of the space is inspired by the metaphor of the Japanese flag—the red rising sun casting rays across the sky. This imagery is embodied in both the large and small details of the interior. The round table symbolizes the sun, while the curved lamps evoke the outline of Japanese mountains and the walls evoke the sky at sunrise.
The name Tamago means egg in Japanese, which is an essential ingredient in almost all desserts. The café, which combines two culinary cultures, serves both French and Japanese desserts.
The design of Tamago Kissaten, located in Kaliningrad, was conceived by DA bureau, a team of young architects, with offices in St Petersburg and Tallinn. Over the past eight years, the bureau has completed more than 170 projects in the field of architecture and interior design.
