Post-apocalyptic china anyone? | Glitch LAB x The Last of Us

The days of boring merchandise are over, today’s fans want more than just T-shirts and mugs. There’s nothing more exciting than seeing your favorite TV show come back through something creative—and that’s exactly the case with the latest collection from Polish company Glitch LAB, inspired by the gaming universe and HBO’s post-apocalyptic drama series, The Last of Us. The show has generated global interest just as quickly as the mass fungus infection of the plot. Whether you’re a passionate enthusiast, a Pedro Pascal fan, or a video game freak, these products are sure to find their way into your heart.

What do the three creators of Glitch LAB, Marta Łempicka, Joanna Rymaszewska, and Arkadiusz Szwed, have in common? A rebellious artistic approach that disrupts indifference to important issues—perhaps this is the easiest way to sum it up. The Glitch LAB collective, even by their conscious choice of name, points to systemic flaws, which are reflected in their topics and in their use of materials. Third-grade porcelain is an essential tool in their designs, demonstrating the durability of the material and the complexity of their creative process, but they also have an obvious intention to question the relevance of creating new products.

The world-famous game universe The Last of Us and the series based on it have captivated millions of people around the world, and the Polish collective was no exception. While viewers may mostly sympathize with the main characters, the villain of the show, the Cordyceps fungi, is the hero of the porcelain collection. The sinister fungal parasite transforms the host into a zombie, over which it eventually takes complete control—a scene that is also recreated on the snow-white porcelain. Lace-rimmed plates and graceful jugs make an unexpected match with dark figures that at first seem abstract, but like most unexpected things, this is a stunningly fascinating collection. The products are available in two colors, green and blue.
