In the recently opened Flavor–Memory–Posters, MOME graphic designers recall their memories of salami.
The iconic brand Pick and the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME) have started a collaboration to bring back generations of salami memories through the power of visual culture. We have previously reported on the first stage of PICK’s new campaign when the company created a tote bag with graphics by two Hungarian designers, which can be purchased in stores when buying salami. But the project has recently entered a second phase, with the opening of the exhibition Flavor–Memory–Posters in the BBBKultPont Gallery and Community Space on Bartók Béla Street, Buda’s main cultural street, which was inspired by the company’s 150-year history and the salami experiences that have defined the taste memories of generations.
A jury of MOME alumni and current students, representing several generations, evaluated the works and awarded the best of them at the opening ceremony on 8 May.
The winners of the awards for alumni students are:
1st prize: Tibor Kárpáti, Szabadkai út 18.
2nd prize: Rozi Békés, PICK
3rd prize: Viktor Földi, Three Seconds Rule
The special student prize went to Beáta Bencsik for her poster Morning Picknik, and the special PICK prize went to György Kara and his work PICK AT ALL TIMES.
“PICK has always considered it important to keep up with the times, building on its more than 150 years of tradition, constantly setting new directions for development in value creation, in the artistic preservation of memories and experiences associated with inimitable flavors, and in passing them on to new generations,” pointed out Júlia Szokolai, Strategy and Marketing Director of Bonafarm Meat, representing PICK.
The professional jury was chaired by Tamás Marcell DLA, associate professor and head of MOME Graphic Design BA, and its members included Júlia Szokolai, Strategic and Marketing Director of Bonafarm, László Nagy DLA, senior lecturer at MOME Graphic Design BA, Andrea Horváth, Creative Group Head at Café Communications, and José Tábori-Simon, graphic artist and typographer.
