We are constantly bombarded with stimuli in our everyday life – now we present two apartments in Warsaw that offer paring back in the most positive sense of the word as an alternative.
Thisispaper Studio imagined their latest interior project into an old print warehouse originally built in 1903. The pair of apartments intended for short term rental received the futuristic names K916 and K907. The interiors also match the atmosphere suggested by the names.
“We always have a desire to bring about a sort of quietness – I’m afraid that human species are overloaded with information, events and visual distractions. What we miss during everyday travels is a peaceful moment to unwind, relax or simply pause for a while. Therefore we decided to go for an ultra-minimal look” – explained the studio’s co-founder, Zuzanna Gasior their credo to Dezeen.
The 4.75 meter headroom of the apartments allowed a two-story layout without taking anything from the spaciousness of the suite. The mezzanine bedrooms were built in a subdued style, out of pine plywood. They first painted the wood white, and then treated it with natural oils so that these light elements can sneak in some light into the otherwise raw concrete structure.
At the very few points where we get to meet accessories, we find chrome, copper and porcelain amongst the materials. The designers didn’t go too far in terms of furnishing, either, but this only pertains to quantity, not quality. The eyes of design fans will be probably caught first by the speakers of Dieter Rams, but the object armchair designed by Norwegian designer Terje Ekstrom and the chairs and tables imagined by Philippe Malouin also look quite good and dominant in the space.
This is not the first time that Thisispaper Studio designed a minimalist apartment into an industrial milieu: their previous project was implemented in an old vodka distillery. All three apartments are available for rent on A-Place.
