Smartphone charged in just eight minutes | Xiaomi

Chinese tech company Xiaomi has demonstrated a 100% smartphone charge in 8 minutes using a custom-built Mi 11 Pro, equipped with a 4000 mAh battery.

The new cutting-edge charging technology is available both in wired and wireless forms, with the wired setup demonstrating an 8-minute, while the wireless a 15-minute lap time for a 100% charge. Xiaomi has also released a video showing the operation of their system called the HyperCharge.

Fast-charging is a favored racetrack of Chinese manufacturers: two years ago, Xiaomi was able to charge a similar battery in 17 minutes, while in 2020, Oppo could do the same in 20 minutes. It is uncertain that these fast-charging options will be included in the devices available on the market, however, they show that in the not-so-distant future a discharged battery won’t bind us to an electrical outlet for too long.
