Soul and Spirit—Estonian Music Days begins this week

Estonian Music Days, the annual festival of contemporary music held since 1979, will present two themes for the first time this year.

The festival will take place in Tallinn, in Tartu, and online. In the capital, this year’s festival will focus on the soul and breathing. Souls meet for a concert, to play and listen together, to breathe as one. We hold our breath in excited anticipation of the first note, and the musicians breathe life into the soul of the music. At the second venue, the focus is on the spirit. Tartu is the spiritual capital of Estonia, a place that both nourishes the soul and frees the spirit.

The festival runs from April 26 to May 7.
