The works of Romanian-born French artist Ana Popescu, now on show at the Sous-Bois Café in Vienna, depict scenes of summer holidays.
The artist describes Les Vacances as a visual diary of her summer travels: sunlit buildings, sunbathing tourists, and endless blue skies. According to Popescu, the images are an instinctive mix of colors, shapes, and light, in which she intended to recreate the atmosphere of school holidays in the 90s through moments like a shadow falling on a chair, fleecy clouds, or people staring at the ground.
