The London-based studio has announced to collaborate with Hyperloop Italia to design a network of a near-supersonic train system.
Hyperloop Italia is currently conducting feasibility studies on a proposed route between Milan and the Malpensa Airport, which would allow passengers to cover the distance in 10 minutes compared to the nearly 45 minutes long travel time of today. The planned network in Italy would be powered entirely by renewable energy sources and will be capable of producing more energy than it consumes. Based on the original ideas of SpaceX and Tesla founder Elon Musk, similar Hyperloop networks are being developed in numerous countries around the world.
“We are looking forward to collaborating with Hyperloop Italia; marrying transformative architecture, engineering, and urban planning with the most efficient and sustainable transport network to significantly improve accessibility, connectivity, and well-being in our cities,” said Zaha Hadid Architects principal Patrik Schumacher.
