Did you know that there are at least 2200 species of ants in the world? Or that the largest recorded contiguous ant colony in the world stretches 6,000 kilometers? Although, unlike ants, we humans can’t carry 50 times our body weight, the latest collection from YKRA KIDS still makes the perfect companion for the little ones, whether they’re at school or on a sizzling summer adventure.
This time, the industrious insects have marched into the world of YKRA: the ANTS limited edition collection features the brand’s unique visual world, this time inspired by the bustling atmosphere of anthills. The vibrant, winding tunnels were designed by illustrator Aliz Buzás, who approached the subject with her usual cheerfulness, incorporating personal memories and paying close attention to the structure of the ant colony’s habitat.
“We came up with the theme together (with YKRA), and the world of ants was inspiring and appealing from the start. I looked at the structure of an ant colony, how it’s segmented, based on photos,” Aliz revealed in an interview on the YKRA website.
There was no shortage of personal nostalgia during the design process, as the fundamental idea of the concept came from an old ambition: Balázs Lakatos, the founder of YKRA, has always wanted an ant farm, and Aliz has designed it for him in this collection.
