The award was launched this year based on the initiative and generous offer of contemporary visual art gallery owner Erika Deák, endorsed by József Fülöp, the rector of Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design. The purpose of the annual grant is to support the studies of an MA student of the Theoretical Institute of Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design who carries out in-depth research on the field of contemporary visual arts in their final year.
The winning application was submitted by Noémi Viski, a student of the Department of Design and Art Theory. According to Noémi, her research focuses on the environmental impacts of information technology, while the related exhibition will feature works that examine and critically observe the social and ecological problems affecting our present and our future, while also proposing alternative solutions to these issues.
The Erika Deák Grant is a prominent example of the kind of mentality and patronage that is needed increasingly in the contemporary art scene.
We, the team of HYPEANDHYPER are especially delighted to see that the outstanding work and dedication of our colleague, Noémi, has been rewarded. Congratulations!
