For two years, German photographer David Altrath documented Hamburg City Hall, which turned 125 years old in 2022.
After the Great Fire of 1842, Hamburg’s new historicist City Hall, which dominates the city center with its 112-meter height, was completed in 1897. Altrath has captured the interiors of the vast building, which covers many state institutions and authorities under one roof.
