Timeless elegance with the best of design | Puro Hotel

The units of Polish hotel chain PURO Hotels are amongst the first rankers of our post-Covid bucket list for sure. Let’s begin with the hotel that has been recently renovated and reopened in Kraków old town!

Zuza and Piotr Paradowski, the designers of Piotr Paradowski Interior Design Studio were inspired by the atmosphere of interwar cafés and mid-century modernist hotels when working on the renovation of PURO Hotel in Kraków. They combined this mixed past with the latest generation of Polish and international design, resulting in a vibrant yet timelessly elegant space.

In the common areas, the warmth of natural oak wood merges with the coolness of stone. Every glass and ceramics piece in the hotel was made by Polish studios. Supporting local contemporary visual artists forms an integral part of the hotel’s concept, thus there are plenty of contemporary artworks made by Polish artists, too.

The lobby’s mosaic drawing on communist aesthetics as well as the wooden bas-relief evoking the natural beauty of the nearby Tatra Mountains were made by Tomasz Opaliński, but the artworks of Tomasz Baran, Małgorzata Malwina Niespodziewana, Wojciech Ireneusz Sobczyk, Jakub Woynarowski and Marta Antoniak can also be found throughout the hotel’s spaces.

When it comes to design and furnishing, the main criterion was quality and longevity, thus we can observe the meeting of leading design brands—&Tradition, Artek, Carl Hansen&Søn, Cassina—and local craftsmanship. The greatest strength of the interior lies in the fact that the spaces are not dominated by said top brands: the designers managed to blend these objects perfectly with the aesthetic built on traditions and associations.
