An interactive installation to re-connect citizens in London.
Following the lockdowns caused by the Coronavirus, several cities have decided to use art and design to create opportunities for people to meet in public spaces. This time, London has set up an interactive installation: Sonic Bloom, curated by Alter Projects, aims to connect people through the different sounds of the citizens and the city.
The installation of the sound artist Yuri Suzuki consists of funnels ending in speakers and their tubes, arranged in a formation that resembles a bouquet of flowers. The funnels, placed at different heights, allowing both young and old to speak into them or listen to each other with an ear stuck to the opposite end of the tube. The installation will stand in Brown Hart Gardens, near Oxford Street for a year.
