Three months since we first saw the shock collaboration at the luxury house’s Fall 2022 runway show, the partnership has now officially been showcased in a Carlijn Jacobs-shot lookbook and it’s just as good as the fashion world expected.
The collection, designed by creative director Alessandro Michele, is accompanied by an unusual lookbook that takes its inspiration from archival catalogs from the 1980s. It wasn’t just the dramatic poses that made the authentic final result a success, many footwear styles—such as the Gazelle—that were popular in the ’80s, and a range of material details from velvet and suede to snakeskin, bold prints, jazzy fonts and more also hark back to this energetic era.
The collaboration between the sportswear giant and one of the world’s most popular luxury brands is nothing new—Adidas has previously worked with Prada, while Louis Vuitton has teamed up with Nike and Supreme.
The Adidas x Gucci collection is scheduled for release on June 7, 2022. It will drop at select Gucci stores, dedicated pop-ups, online on Gucci’s website, as well as on the adidas CONFIRMED app with more to come in the future.
