Amphibious catamaran with innovative solutions | Pagurus

Italian designer Pierpaolo Lazzarini unveiled yet another impressive vessel design: this time that of an amphibious catamaran.

The two side hulls of the 25-meters-long innovative watercraft as well as the deck station connecting them with a bridge steel structure can comfortably accommodate up to 8 passengers plus 4 crew members. The part of the central deck area retractable with electric winches offers a possibility to load different vehicles. The names “Pagurus” and “Crabmaran” allude to the vessel’s amphibious mode of operation: it can hold its ground both on water and on sand or mud terrains. The watercraft has a top speed of 24 knots, that is approximately 45 km/h, on water while its maximum speed is 35 km/h on land. Even though Lazzarini shows a vessel equipped with solar panels on his models as a way of incorporating eco-friendly solutions, the designs also feature diesel engines. The catamaran will be built on demand for the price of EUR 24,000,000, equaling approximately HUF 8,600,000.
