Balbek Bureau received presidential comission to build temporary shelters

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Balbek Bureau: they discussed that the architecture studio will construct a temporary shelter for locals near Kyiv while they rebuild their homes, following the Russian invasion. Located between the cities of Bucha and Irpin, the short-term housing scheme will accommodate between 1,300 and 5,000 people.

The temporary housing program is one of the projects to be implemented in the first phase of Zelensky’s reconstruction plan, which he announced in his daily address to the nation earlier this month. The complex could be constructed within four to five months, according to Balbek Bureau founder Slava Balbek, based on a blueprint for a modular refugee village developed by his studio in response to the invasion.
