Budapest Design Week is ON! —Meet the winners of the Hungarian Design and Design Management Awards

As in previous years, Budapest Design Week kicked off with the award ceremony of the most prestigious Hungarian design awards, the Hungarian Design Award and the Design Management Award.

In the product category of the Hungarian Design Award, the TEQ LITE multifunctional play device designed by Gábor Borsány, György Gattyán, Viktor Dénes Huszár, the TILT chair designed by Dániel Lakos, and the custom-made subwoofer, the BAYZ Audio Counterpoint 2.0, designed by Zoltán Bay, were awarded.

The shared special prize of the State Secretary for Culture of the Ministry of Human Resources was awarded to the CECC award object 2021, a joint work by András Szilos and Boglárka Imrei. The special prize of the National Intellectual Property Office was awarded to the creation of Márton Bartos and Tamás Liszkai, the VOXELTEK FLOW digital dental technology system.

The winner of the design category is the Adamo dolls’ swing, the result of the joint work of András Oravecz and Ádám Németh. The special prize went to Zsuzsanna Horváth’s NORNIR wall clock.

The identity development of the Corvinus University of Budapest by Salt Communications Ltd. won the visual communication category, created by Lőrinc Balogh, Botond Burus, István Nagy and Máté Serflek. The Special Prize of the Ministry of Human Resources and State Secretariat for Culture was awarded to the book entitled “Franciaudvaros Bérházak Budapesten,” a collaboration between author Melinda Mártonffy, graphic designer Anna Bárdy, and photographer Fülöp Schmal.

This year’s winner of the student category is Bálint Szalai’s interior object group, entitled itthon. The special prize of the State Secretary for Higher Education, Innovation and Vocational Training of the Ministry of Innovation and Technology went to Adrienn Király’s BObO alternative dollhouse.

This year the Radnóti Miklós Színház Nonprofit Kft was awarded with the Design Management Award. This year’s Intellectual Property Diagnosis Special Prize of the National Intellectual Property Office was given to Györgytea Ltd. Three other organizations received certificates of recognition: Artmagazin was recognized as a creative example of design management. The BuildEXT design office, dealing with building information modeling and the Hard Body Hang’s (HBH) public sports fields, suitable for private weight training, were also honored.

The theme of this year’s Budapest Design Week is New Standards. The festival’s central exhibition also reflects on this topic and can be visited at the Societé Budapest event center. Between 8 and 17 October, besides Budapest, there will be nearly 200 events in several cities in the country, including exhibitions, professional events, city walks, craft workshops and open studios.
