The creator of the Persian Pillow project has simulated how the ancient pyramids might have been built with the help of Midjourney—only this time, using pillows.
AI artist Ulises took an object found in everyone’s home—the pillow—and used it to recreate one of the greatest wonders of the ancient world. While the colossal pyramids, with their enigmatic construction history, are made slightly humorous, or even frivolous by the use of pillows in Ulises’ images, the soft, lightweight, and flexible material offers a unique opportunity to study these ancient structures.
Despite their surrealism, the images are quite beautiful and make you want to delve deeper into the study of historical architectural methods. These modern versions of the monuments were been built in different configurations—all virtual, of course—following different architectural principles.
While we still don’t know how the building blocks of the pyramids, those giant slabs of stone, ended up in the middle of the desert, this project proves that artificial intelligence may soon help us answer some of mankind’s greatest mysteries.
