Design Everywhere – 5 Program Tips for the Ongoing Budapest Design Week

Fine arts, objects, and the human stories behind them: we recommend five exhibitions, walks, and behind-the-scenes programs during the most design-centric week of the year.

For the twenty-second year, Budapest Design Week draws attention to the multifaceted ways in which design shapes our everyday lives. This year's series of events, taking place between October 8 and 19 under the motto "Fluid Boundaries," examines how genres, materials, and industries merge and how design creates connections between art, economics, and human stories. More than 175 programs in ten cities—exhibitions, workshops, tours, and discussions—showcase the many faces of design, from the joy of creation to industrial innovation. The aim is to bring anyone, regardless of age or background, closer to the world of design and to discover the creative power that lies in the objects, spaces, and ideas that surround us.

360 Design Budapest

One of the most important events of the week will once again be 360 Design Budapest. The exhibition, featuring more than 400 works by nearly 100 Hungarian and Central European designers, will be hosted by the Buda Castle District. Organized by the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency, this two-time Red Dot Award-winning event is one of the region's most important design platforms, focusing on the cultural and economic significance of object creation. This year's motto, "Design Aligns – Creating Together, Living Connected," celebrates the power of collaborative creation and human connection. Exhibitors include Sixay Furniture's timeless wooden furniture, Viaplant's interior design materials made from plant fibers, Hello Wood's experimental installations, Hannu's unconventional ceramics, and Position Collective's minimalist home furnishings, representing the diversity of contemporary design in Hungary and the region.
