Olympia on Tour, an installation by 100Architects studio, transforms public spaces into dynamic playgrounds, thereby helping to reduce screen time among children.
100Architects installed its pop-up playground in the Chinese city of Ningbo last autumn. The installation encourages physical activity among children and acts as a communal meeting point. A sense of surrealism is incorporated throughout the colors and shapes of the elements used, with obvious references to sports like basketball and tennis. Raised, undulating surfaces and play tunnels also allow for improvisation. The architecture studio would like to install Olympia on Tour in other Chinese cities in the future.
