Discover Prague with this architectural guide!

The Modern Prague Map, published by Blue Crow Media, pays homage to the twentieth century architecture of the Czech capital. Here we go!

The map comes complete with the text of Prague architectural historian and writer Adam Štěch and the photographs of Tomáš Souček: not only a useful guide to discover Prague, but also a visual delight. The guidebook is a two-page bilingual edition, with a map of the city, an introductory essay and information on fifty notable buildings. The selection of buildings includes works by architects such as Vlastislav Hofman, Adolf Loos, Věra Machoninová and her husband Vladimír Machonín.

The featured houses cover a wide range of typologies and scales: large-scale works such as multi-family housing and department stores, as well as boutique-style designs and urban furniture, are also included on the map. Notable examples include Emil Králíček’s cubist lamppost, the modernist Baba Housing Estate, Martin Rainer’s tenement house and the play space designed for the National Theatre’s New Stage.

The Modern Prague Map is part of Blue Crow Media’s architectural guidebook series. The other publications in the series build on similar projects focusing on the modernist and brutalist architecture of Berlin, Chicago and London.
