From the end of October, New York’s latest attraction at the top of the One Vanderbilt skyscraper will offer visitors views and experiences, unlike anything that tourists or residents of the never-sleeping city have ever experienced before.
Probably the first thing that comes to people’s mind when they think of New York is skyscrapers, and if someone has ever visited the Big Apple, chances are pretty high that they have been at the top of the Empire State Building or the Rockefeller Center. It looks like the two iconic buildings will face a new challenger on 21 October, when Summit One Vanderbilt opens its doors to the public. The four-story, more than 6,000-square-meters visitor center was designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox architects. The most spectacular features of the lookout are the floating glass “sky boxes,” which give visitors a direct look down on Madison Avenue, running 324-meters-below. It also offers a view of the entire city from the top of the 67-story building that has never been seen before.
