Kocanda Kravsko is located on the outskirts of a South Moravian village and is ideal for those who want to organize a wedding or event in elegant surroundings or just stay in a beautifully atmospheric guesthouse.
The original baroque building complex was built as an inn on the Prague–Vienna route. It was transformed into a ceramics factory in the second half of the 19th century and new buildings were added. Production continued for a hundred years, but many similar industrial plants were abandoned and fell into disrepair. The owners, originally from Kravsko, have converted the site for social events and tourism, based on plans by the Czech company Ora Studio.
Visible from afar, the main attraction is the factory’s chimney, topped by a neon circle that crowns the site and attracts visitors. The part of the original factory next to the chimney is now operating as reception and staff rooms.
The reception area was previously used for mixing clay. The mixing equipment has been left in its original place, so the industrial character of the whole space has been preserved. The ground floor rooms are directly accessed from the porch, with steel frames of the former factory windows on the north side.
In order to maintain the authenticity of the building as much as possible, its interior was insulated on the second floor, preserving the original wooden, dusty façade, still in surprisingly good condition. The authenticity of the upstairs rooms is ensured by the exposed beams and original floorboards. All this is complemented by plaster molds used as tables, lampshades, or purely for aesthetic interest.
The open-plan layout of the industrial buildings offers a versatile space, making them ideal for social events, and the building also houses a restaurant.
