Fascinating color combinations and changes of scale, breath-taking structures – Spanish-born photographer Andrés Gallardo Albajar currently living in Tallinn has travelled the world with his camera and captured the most exciting compositions of buildings and their environment from Bilbao to Beijing.

We can see the buildings of almost twenty cities on the images of Andrés Gallardo Albajar, encouraging us to look at our surroundings from a different perspective. Albajar does not aim for including the entire vista of the buildings, he rather captures their character through their details. The main components of the almost abstract photos are the colors and the recurring patterns, the perfect order of horizontal and vertical lines or the irregular formations of arches.

Known and unknown buildings both appear in the Urban Geometry series consisting of more than seventy photos, including Muralla Roja in Calpe known for its “Instagram-compatible” architecture, the building of Galaxy Soho in Beijing, together with the façades of residential buildings, kindergartens and retirement homes from all over the world.

Urban Geometry also drew the attention of Hoxton Mini Press specializing in photobooks, who decided that they would publish the exciting building photos in a publication.

“It’s been a great joy collaborating with Hoxton’s team of passionate professionals. The process has been very fulfilling in so many levels. I learnt a lot about how a book is done, from the curating point until the very end, publishing and distributing” – said Andrés about their collaboration.
