András Ferkai: Modern houses and their habitants. I Book launch
András Ferkai is a university professor, architect and architectural historian, specialized in the architecture of the period between the two world wars, and the modern movement in particular. The theme of his new book is the modern housing estate (or experimental housing estate) in Napraforgó utca built in 1931, destined to prove that modern and comfortable homes can also be built on small lots. The building complex at Pasarét is the only one that has been implemented in Hungary, therefore, its curiosity is incontestable. The author presents the history of the housing estate with designs and archive recordings from the time, and he enriches his book with the stories of the families living in the buildings, this way making the publication an exigent and authentic read that can be enjoyed by anyone. The host of the book launch will be architect Tamás Dévényi.
