The Danish Beyond Leather has come up with a new alternative to replace animal-derived leather. The completely natural and plant-based material is made from the waste generated during the production of apple juice and cider: we present Leap!
In the production of Leap, the by-product of apple juice is mixed with natural rubber, which is then applied to a textile made of cotton and wood fiber. The final material thus has the same elasticity and durability as genuine leather.
The faux leather is provided with a special protective layer that can be easily colored, making Leap one of the most promising products on the market of sustainable materials, in addition to synthetic leather made from pineapple and mushrooms.
