How can a raincoat be turned into an environmentally friendly attire? Petra Földi was seeking answers to this question when she founded her brand, THERAINCOAT. As part of the series of programmes Open Studios, she and her partner Dániel Szabó speak about product development, the brand, – and Batman.
The story of THERAINCOAT dates back to 2012, when Petra Földi, having just graduated from university, founded her own brand. As early as in her first collection, which won a design award, she sought an answer to how she could reform raincoats, which had been traditionally made of an environmentally harmful material and for occasional wear.
With time, Dániel Szabó joined her to work on brand-related matters. Their goal is to create raincoats with maximum eco-consciousness, step by step and by way of deliberate product developments. Accordingly, they considered it enormous recognition to be contracted by one of the most renowned German manufacturers of innovative materials, SympaTex, offering them help with utilising waterproof, windproof, breathing, but still eco-friendly materials and develop comfortable raincoats, even suited for everyday wear. THERAINCOAT raincoats are tested under special conditions in the material manufacturer’s laboratory.
The couple prepare for an online broadcast on the brand’s Instagram page, where they will speak of waterproof technology and eco-consciousness in respect of the brand, and they may even reveal the secret of their connection to the TV series Gotham.
