Modern churches | TOP 5

How can churches be kept relevant in a technology and information-centric world? Perhaps the answer to this question was sought by the architects who created the top buildings in our selection today. We will guide you to five modern shrines in Eastern Europe where the noise of the outside world is lost and the tranquility intensifies.

Beatified Restituta | Brno, Czech Republic

The construction of the modern church, designed by architect Atelier Štěpán, was completed last year. The minimalist building of Beatified Restituta blends in perfectly with the residential environment, while the special interior provides an opportunity for meditation and getting absorbed. The main lighting of the cathedral is provided by rainbow-colored panoramic windows, so the church shines in a different light at different times of the day, providing a truly transcendent experience for visitors.

Saint John Paul II Church | Páty, Hungary

While visiting Páty, make sure to visit the church dreamed up and built by Robert Gutowski! Breaking with traditional church floor plans, the altar is located close to the benches, allowing liturgies to take place in an even more personal and intimate way.

The Church of the Order of Discalced Carmelites | Snagov, Romania

The Church of the Order of Discalced Carmelites in Snagov is a great example of a modern form of traditionalism: while the restoration was carried out using state-of-the-art technology, the church has retained its original identity in its use of materials and main motifs.

Martin Luther Church | Hainburg, Austria

Perhaps this small-town prayer house has the boldest architectural design on our list. The uniquely designed windows and ceiling elements of the Martin Luther Church in Hainburg guarantee a space floating in constant light during prayer.

Don Bosco Church | Maribor, Slovenia

The fifth place on our list is the Don Bosco Church in Slovenia. The completely minimalist approach may seem cold at first, but the bare walls and puritanical furniture all serve a good purpose: to get closer to the point and surrender ourselves to prayer without distracting outward aspects.
