Museum of Applied Arts acquires contemporary jewelry pieces

Ten pieces made by Hungarian contemporary jewelry designers have been added to the metalwork collection of the Museum of Applied Arts this year. Pieces of jewelers including Fruzsi Fekete, Sapi Szilágyi and Kinga Huber made it into the museum’s collection.

Ráth György Villa opened its doors again in the fall of 2018, with a permanent exhibition titled “Art Nouveau – a Hungarian Perspective.” The exhibition showcases the most prominent pieces of the Art Nouveau collection of the Hungarian Museum of Applied Artsthe contemporary pieces of the central exhibition of Art Jewelry Night Budapest titled „Controls/Ctrl+S” made by both Hungarian and international artists were exhibited amongst these iconic objects in the fall of 2019.

The successful collaboration did not come to an end with last year’s exhibition: this year, the museum acquired the jewelry pieces of ten designers out of the 17 Hungarian jewelers participating in the 2019 exhibition in the framework of its artwork acquisition under a funding program, thus the objects of ten Hungarian contemporary jewelry designers have been added to the metalwork collection of the Hungarian Museum of Applied Arts.
