The metro station will feature glass and enamel, which will not only make it look magical but also protect it from groundwater.
Maxim Velčovský and the architects of edit! have won the competition for the redesign, which will replace the original ceramic tiles with glass plates, continuing the tradition of using glass in the Prague metro, while also introducing new technological possibilities.
According to Zdeněk Hřib, Deputy for Prague Public Transit Company and Chairman of the DPP Supervisory Board, metro stations are an integral part of the daily lives of Prague’s citizens and should be not only functional but also pleasant. The winning design meets all these requirements. Work is expected to start in the second half of 2024.
