Portrait of Humanity 2020 exhibition opens in Capa Center

The winning photographs of the Portrait of Humanity 2020 competition can be viewed free of charge between September 4 and October 11 in 8F Gallery of Capa Center.

The Portrait of Humanity 2020 open call was announced by 1854 Media, the publisher of British Journal of Photography, thus offering an opportunity to photographers to show what it means to be human in our troubled age. The jury consisting of photo editors, curators and festival directors from leading institutions around the world selected thirty photos and three series out of the several thousand applications.

The selected artworks tell various stories from all around the world: including Eric Demeter’s portrait of Greta Thunberg, addressing demonstrating crowds in Canada; Mirja Maria Thiel’s moment of intimacy between a married couple of 60 years and Snezhana von Büdingen’s series following Sofie, a 19-year-old girl with Down’s Syndrome, as she transitions from girl to woman.
