The primary aim of the floating tennis court is to raise awareness of plastic waste drifting in the oceans. On the occasion of the Australian Open tennis championships, adidas and Parley for the Oceans have set up a giant, sustainable tennis court in the middle of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.
The court is made entirely from recycled plastic and was donated to a local school as a charity following the Australian tennis stars’ tournament. The court was also used as a venue for a fashion show—a new range of high-performance clothing made from marine plastics was presented here. In addition, adidas revealed that the colors for its 2022 tennis collection were inspired by the shades of the Great Barrier Reef.
