The Time Machine, Frankenstein and Brave New World—the Royal Mail pays homage to British sci-fi writers with a collection of six stamps.
The 2021 release of the stamp collection that recalls sci-fi classics is linked to two anniversaries: the 75th anniversary of the death of sci-fi writer H.G. Wells and the 70th anniversary of the publication of John Wyndham’s The Day of the Triffids.
Six illustrators were invited to design the stamps, which were created as a collaboration of the Royal Mail and the Webb & Webb design studio. The artists depicted the iconic scenes and atmosphere of the literary works in their distinct styles, using various techniques.
