Some of the designers accommodated at Heinrich courtyard decided to found a studio in 2019. Out of the members of their shared workshop called Közben and located in Ráday utca, Vanda Berecz and the founders of RisoPlant are preparing online and offline workshops in the framework of the Open Studios program of this year’s Budapest Design Week.
Közben studio began as a temporary solution to keep together the small enterprises that dispersed from Heinrich courtyard, but it ended up as the permanent headquarters of KELE clothing, NŌWA accessories, RisoPlant, and design artist Vanda Berecz. The designers’ workstations operate among limited-edition knitted pullovers, leather bags, cacti cultivated in a Hungarian nursery, and an old-school risograph printer, while an actual plant laboratory is run at the back of the business premises.
Their former site is not the only thing connecting the members of Közben studio, they also share a commitment to eco-consciousness. For instance, RisoPlant aims at limited-series printing and the recycling of plant pots, NŌWA accessories strives for reprocessing leather waste, and most of the products of KELE clothing are made of ecoTEC-certified base materials.
In the programme series Open Studios, two members of RisoPlant will participate: Mimma Nosek will introduce the audience to the mysteries of risograph techniques and Dávid Erdész will hold a planting workshop; moreover, Vanda Berecz will await visitors for a leather bag making workshop. The trio of Közben studio will hold a live broadcast for Budapest Design Week followers.
