The BALATORIUM program of the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture has invited musicians to help raise awareness of the Lake Balaton’s vulnerability. The album, entitled Balaton hangjai (The Sounds of Balaton—the Transl.) , features twelve artists who present the lake’s vulnerability from different perspectives, both in terms of style and message.
The diversity is well represented by the fact that it features a wide variety of acts, from Дeva to Jazzbois and Nóvé Soma. And if all this wasn’t enough, the exceptional material will be celebrated with a mini album launch festival on 19 August at the BÁNYA Garden in Salád, where concerts and a colorful program of activities by the project’s professional mentor, the PAD Foundation, will be on offer. The BALATORIUM is a flagship project of the European Capital of Culture program, with the mission to bring people closer to the ecological context of Lake Balaton and its region through culture, and to raise awareness that only together can we contribute to the future of Lake Balaton. This time, they will do so with the help of twelve outstanding artists: for the album Balaton hangjai, coordinated by Banana Records, Deva, Józsi Hegedűs, Iamyank, Jazzbois, Mmamt, Soma Nóvé, Onakom, SunMa, Wave of Sound, Wavy, and Richárd Zalai have each delivered a brand new track. They were joined by SNAILTRIP, who joined the allstars team through the previously announced competition. Another special feature of the album is that the participants were free to use the natural sounds recorded by the members of Analog Balaton at Lake Balaton, so the soft rustle of reeds, the clink of pebbles, the soothing ripple of water, and the hum of carefree holidaymakers add to the inimitable atmosphere.
