Visit this place in Prague if you crave heavenly coffee and homemade bread

If you are in Prague and crave specialty coffee, you should visit Alf & Bet. Roastery and bakery in the same space, awaiting guests with a spectacular interior design in the second café of the EMA espresso bar, that supports Czech artists.

Alf & Bet is basically a roastery and bakery, but it is also the second café of the EMA café chain, so you can also enjoy coffee and other delicacies when you pop in. Both brands can be attributed to Kamil Skrbek, who was one of the pioneers to introduce the world of specialty coffee to the people of Prague. He felt that starting his own roasting plant was a logical step due to the growing turnover of his cafés, while his travels abroad inspired him to make artisan bread.

The architects of the multi-purpose shop, Kristina Magasaniková (SheArchitect) and Roman Prachař, dreamed up an espresso bar in the first section of the huge, bright space—with a prominent Diedrich roaster and a huge toaster. Kamil’s dream was for the place to have a peaceful, small-town feel.

As with other EMAs, it features works by contemporary Czech artists: the paintings of Ira Svobodová, called Tubes and the work of Bára Prášilová, called Sock magnificently rhyme with the industrial interior.

The bakery also offers traditional Czech pastries made from high-quality ingredients, freshly baked every day—just as they prepare all the other food they serve.
