Even before the outbreak of the pandemic, more and more people were talking about our society becoming increasingly isolated, and the restrictions imposed around the world have only served to reinforce this trend. Krakow has now decided to install chat benches to encourage people to reach out to each other.
The discussion bench campaign was launched initially by Allison Owen Jones in Wales, and the idea has been moved to Poland by the Gadulwa organization. In collaboration with a local architect’s office, they designed the benches to catch the attention of passers-by with their bright green color. The sign on them reads: Sit here if you don’t mind someone stopping to say hello!
