As the Venice Art Biennale 2022 opened its doors to the public this weekend, visitors making their way through the winding streets of the city could discover a set of revamped newsstands with the pink “Louis Vuitton” logo.
The attractive array of stands is part of the French fashion house’s initiative to celebrate these historic and much-loved newsagents and restore them to their former glory. The refurbished newsstands displayed Louis Vuitton’s colorful city guides, transforming the tiny newspaper and magazine outlets into eye-catching mini bookshops.
The travel books feature secret places, walking tours, cultural events, and photographic portfolios with recommendations from savvy journalists. Available in both print and digital versions, the series so far covers 30 destinations: from Amsterdam to Mexico, Miami to Venice. Although the Louis Vuitton takeover lasted only a week, an LV kiosk will remain a permanent fixture in Saint Mark’s Square in Venice.
