The regional leaders of craft beer | TOP5

Y2K is long gone, but something seems to have still changed in the first decade of the new millennium. We have seen new flavors, new crafting techniques, and new ideas emerge in the world of brewing. Craft beers have left behind generality with a bang, creating their own culture of consumption. In this selection, we present some of the region’s top brewers. Cheers!

Browar Stu Mostów | Poland

The founders of Browar Stu Mostów dreamed of a good Polish craft beer, and that’s what brought the place to life. The idea for the brewery started in 2012, and two years later the production process started in Wrocław. Since then it has been slowly maturing, just like a real old craft beer. The town itself has a rich brewing tradition, and it is also a meeting point, boasting a hundred bridges from which the brewery draws both its name and its inspiration.

“We want to brew beer that will build the most beautiful of bridges. Between people, cities, and countries. Between history, present, and future.”

MONYO | Hungary

Based in Budapest, MONYO Brewing seeks to provide a complex experience for both consumers and brewers. One of the country’s first new-wave breweries, it was founded in 2014 by Ádám Pein and Anti Németh in Kőbánya, Budapest, with the aim of creating the concept of craft beer 2.0. They are considered an honest, authentic brand on the market, that think innovatively and always keep quality, humor, and creativity in mind. Over the years they have brewed more than 80 different beers, conquered the European market, and exported to Mexico, Canada, and even China. They are convinced that beer is not a game, everything else is. MONYO has grown into a true cultural treasure in Hungary.

The Garden Brewery | Croatia

Garden Brewery is an award-winning microbrewery in Zagreb, Croatia. It was founded in 2016 with the aim of bringing an incredible craft beer to the blossoming music festivals on Croatia’s Adriatic Coast. Their beers are brewed for experiences that bring people together. From their summer thirst quenchers and sour fruit beers to their experimental offerings, their beers are made with creativity, innovation, and a passion for experimentation. Whether it’s exploring a new style of beer, discovering the landscapes of Croatia, or enjoying the sea breeze, The Garden Brewery celebrates the relationship between beer and the consumer in a refreshingly simple way: finding joy in a sometimes distorted world.

Sibeeria Brewery | Czech Republic

The Sibeeria brewery in Prague started its journey in 2014 until it brought to life its own brewery, located in the historic industrial area ‘ČKD’. In Vysočany, in the valley of the Rokytka River in the eastern part of the city, they brew their special flavors for innovative beer lovers. Since 2020, all their beers are brewed here, on-site. Their packaging is like a canvas, with graphics that make their beers even more exceptional.

Bereta | Romania

The Bereta brewery is Transylvania’s number-one brewing and experimental workshop in the world of craft beer in terms of quality. They have been a true pioneer in the market since its establishment in 2014. First, their beer was served in the bar-and-second-hand-record-store of the head brewer’s father, then in more and more places in Timisoara and its surrounding area, and today you can also buy it in Budapest in the ‘Csak a jó sör’ beer dispensary. In their taproom, you can enjoy an excellent draught beer, a real crown jewel of beer culture.
