The Design Without Borders exhibition is open until the end of the week

The Kiscell Museum in Budapest is hosting a design showcase featuring works from 24 countries until the 6th of November.

The initiative, which dates back 18 years, is showcasing the work of 214 artists from 24 countries in Budapest this year. As in previous years, the works, projects, and objects bring together a wide range of areas—various fields of design, fine arts, visual arts, and performing arts.

Small-scale furniture and accessories, prototypes, and even experimental pieces are included alongside mass-produced pieces. In addition to featuring designers from the region, the exhibition focuses on Finnish product design, through the work of Alvar Aalto and students from the Department of Design and Architecture of Aalto University. By tradition, an integral part of the exhibition is the TEXHIBITION project, which aims to bring together manufacturers and designers.

This year’s highlights include new creations by 20 designers, while the series showcasing contemporary jewelry designers includes a wide selection of international and Hungarian pieces. A separate section is dedicated to the work of art university students, featuring Estonian, Czech, Polish, Slovak, Romanian, and Hungarian designs. In connection with the International Year of Glass 2022, there will be a representative international exhibition in the apse of the Church Hall, and two small chamber exhibitions in the Permanent Exhibition Hall, one of the Czech glass artist Lukáš Jabůrek’s objects and another featuring the glass works from the Kiscell Museum collection.
