Elegant and simple aesthetics combined with Bauhaus-inspired design: the coffee table designed by Ukrainian designer Pavel Vetrov can be a monolith-like decorative element in our homes—this is also where its name comes from.
Pavel Vetrov is currently living and working as a designer in Kyiv, Ukraine.“My career is rooted in my love for 3D renders. Initially I focused on interior design but today I participate in more and more furniture design projects, too,” Pavel told us. The designer has worked with numerous international brands including Spanish Missana, Danish Bolia or Estonian furniture factory Woodman. This time we present you his table dubbed Monolith Coffee Table, commissioned by Australian design studio Hegi Design House.
The shape of the Monolith coffee table was inspired by the Bauhaus: it is built on simple geometric forms and is defined by sophisticated curved lines and mathematical angles. The piece of furniture evoking elegant and clean Scandinavian design is not only aesthetically pleasing but is very practical at the same time. Even though it is characterized by a simple silhouette, it wasn’t named after its shape: the “monolith-effect” is a result of its texture and use of materials, as the Monolith Coffee Table is made of a single material, Victorian Ash.
The table comes in three finishes (natural, brown and black), and is available in both a square and round option. On top of it all, the Monolith Coffee Table was also awarded at the Australian Good Design Awards 2020 in the category of Furniture and Lighting.
